It was a modern take on an arranged marriage that was supposed to lead to my happily ever after. The rules were simple
1.Marry a complete stranger chosen for you by professionals.
2.Live together as man and wife for eight weeks while cameras record your every move.
3.Make a decision to stay together or get a divorce.
Call me crazy, but I had complete faith in the process, until I saw who was waiting for me at the end of the aisle.
Austin James has never met me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know him. With no other choice, I say my vows and pray I can make it through the next eight weeks. Then I’ll leave. What connects us is my best kept secret, and I’ll protect it at all costs even if that means walking away from the only person I’ve ever cared about.

I flat out loved loved loved this book! From the cover art .... stunning! ... which is what first attracted me to this book ... to falling in love with Jillian and Austin .... but more Austin, especially his wedding dance, gaaahh! loved it! ... as they got to know each other ... to them finding their HEA, this book draws you in and refuses to let go. I made the mistake of starting this book about 10:00pm ... "I'll just read the sample, see if I like it" ... and could not put it down. Needless to say, I was a zombie the next day at work but it was sooooo worth it! The ending ... well, not even the ending but their ultimate end and all that came after .... were my least favorite parts. Neither of them handled the situations very well and I wished there was more "acting like a grown up" but in the end it was ok. Rachael was fantastic with Jillian and her panic attack; I literally felt what Jillian felt, when you feel like your world is dropping out from under your feet. This is one of my go to books, when I need a palate cleanse after reading a book that just didn't do it for me.

Hopeless Vows edition by Rachael Duncan Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I found this book just Ok, there were a few parts that were frustrating. Jillian was a little too much of a push over for me. Austin angered me with the whole Chloe situation. Not just the down playing of their past, but why did you even get her involved in your lives. Also when they are in the bedroom and she is making advances he should have shut her down right away.
I did not like the way everyone reacted when the secret was revealed, it was just too mean and vindictive for people who loved each other.
There were a lot of sweet moments I did like, but occasionally Austins sweetness was eye roll worthy.
I'll be honest.. I picked this book based solely on the cover, I have never heard of the author and didn't even read the blurb. I know know that is soooo bad but hey at least I admit it. I'm a sucker for a beautiful cover!
I freakin loved this book! The concept of an arranged marriage was genius and it felt fresh and new. I fell in love with the characters as the story went on and was rooting for them to fall in love!
I loved the way the words just flowed off the page, it made it nearly impossible to put the book down!
I'll be reading more of this authors work in the very near future!
I haven't had a book hangover in so long and after reading Hopeless Vows, I did. This book is beyond good. It was surprising and full of romance, intrigue and the angst that I love.
When I read a romance novel, I want to feel with every ounce of my heart. I want to be able to connect with the characters and get lost in their story and that's exactly what happened. Rachael Duncan weaved a tale so perfectly that just when you though you knew what was going to happen, you were wrong...and I LOVE when that happens.
I smiled, shed a few tears and felt this story in my gut. It was extremely well written and is definitely a must read. It may only be February, but this is and will be in my top reads for 2016.
KUDOS Rachael, you knocked this one right out of the park...from the perfect cover photo to the words on the pages. Congratulations on a wonderful book.
Have you every thought about joining a reality show where they pick person you will marry a complete stranger. Where you first meet on your wedding day. Well that is exactly what Jillian and Austin agree to do. But even thought they have major chemistry and Austin is all in wanting to be with his forever soul mate, he works hard to make Jillian see this can work. But Jillian knew as soon as she was walking down the aisle this was a big mistake. She never thought she would feel the way she does about Austin can she keep her secret the one that if Austin knew he would leave and that would just year her apart. When secrets are exposed can Austin understand and let their Feelings keep them strong or will the betrayal be to much for him to accept. This story sucks you in keeps you in in till the end. When love is so story can love over power the past mistakes and misunderstanding. Will Austin and Jillian find their HE A.
The first time I found this book on goodreads I scrolled through some of the reviews and found one where another author claimed that she was a fan of a show with a similar premise and I remember thinking the premise isn't similar... it is exactly the same. I believe the only difference [aside from names, including the name of the show] is that there were four couples instead of three. Did this make me not want to read it? Hell no. I wanted to read it more. I happen to like Married at First Sight and the reviews didn't say that the book sucked so I went for it.
Thank god I did. I found myself enjoying this even more than the show.
In Married at First Sight you get to see three couples who have never met before and know nothing about each other meet for the first time as they are getting married. You get to see the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to them trying to figure out how to make a marriage work with a complete stranger.
In Hopeless Vows you get to see all of that which is being filmed for the show in the book, First Comes Marriage, and also everything behind the scenes which of course is where all the fun stuff happens. Jillian and Austin are matched together by the experts because they have similar backgrounds and because they fit well together personality wise. The only problem? Jillian seems... withdrawn. You might be too though if you find out that your new husband has something to do with your past that you never want him to find out. It's only eight weeks though. Surely she can make it through without him finding out about her past. This book was full of ups and downs, a lot of steam, a fair amount of jealousy, and enough angst to bring it all together.
All in all I really liked this book. I really like the premise of getting married to a complete stranger through a program that seems to work [instead of it simply being arranged by parents for connections]. I would probably read it again if I was looking for a sweet guy and angsty plot and some well rounded characters.
